Drivers who give their friends and family a lift to the airport are having to dig a little deeper to do so, as the drop-off fees at some of Britain’s biggest airports have doubled over the past two years.

East Midlands and Aberdeen airports have increased their “kiss and fly” fees from £1 to £2 since 2016, according to price comparison site Kayak, while London Stansted has also increased its drop-off fees by £1, making the overall charge to drop a passenger off at the capital’s third-largest airport now £3.50.

And those who linger for too long in the drop-off area at Stansted and overstay the 15-minute limit will automatically be charged a £25 penalty.
